Fossil Free Dartmouth (FFD) is a group of students at Dartmouth College deeply concerned about the climate crisis. We believe that phasing out the fossil fuel industry is essential for a safe and livable future.

Why "Fossil Free"?
  1. Fossil fuels are by far the largest contributor to climate change.
  2. Leading climate scientists say tackling climate change requires a “substantial reduction in fossil fuel use.”
  3. The fossil fuel industry has a well-proven track record of engaging in climate denial, misinformation, and delay tactics.
Leading fossil fuel companies are investing tens of millions of dollars in PR efforts to brand themselves as “sustainable” – even as they continue to extract and burn oil. No major oil and gas firm has climate plans aligned with the Paris Agreement.

Land Acknowledgement

Dartmouth is situated upon the ancestral and unceded lands of the Abenaki people. This acknowledgement reminds us of the significance of place, the continued existence of Indigenous people, and Dartmouth's commitment to building respectful relationships with those who call these lands home today. (Source: Dartmouth Native American Program)
